potluck

September 28th, 2006 by alameda

It was a great success! A street potluck can be arranged on reatively short notice and have a good turn out. With about 7 days notice – flyers posted at all the post box pickup points for the court – we did it!.

About 15-20 people showed up with food and drink. Lots of neighbors were away or unable to attend, but the turn out was still pretty good, and those who did come had a good time.

Things to remember:
provide plates, plastic forks, napkins, glasses – people bring lots of food, but nothing for eating with
name tags, markers – name and street number was very helpful / appreciated
serving spoons – food but no serving spoons
openers
garage cans
extra chairs
tables for food
flashlights, lighting for dusk til dark – candles, lanterns would have been nice
water, sodas, beer, wine – just incase people bring food but nothing to drink

We weren”t sure if this would be munchies or dinner. People brought
pizza
chicken wings
cheese
salads
wine, beer, soda, water
- no dessert
